    “No Filter” September 7, 2018

I recently read an article on @Elitedaily by @aratagrams on what #filters are creating in the mind for women. It said, “Like every kind of social media, Snapchat is a company with its own agenda. It wants to flatter & persuade you to keep using it, but has no obligation to tell you the truth or take responsibility.” That stood out most to me. A lot of us lack self-care & make it a habit to put a filter on our life. We don’t take control because we can just cover it up. But it’s not easy to cover up low self-esteem. I’ve never had great skin.  Terrible eczema, dry…

“Its okay to care.” October 17, 2018

👋 Hey…still here.Keeping life simple & writing a little more.  Just popping in to state…”Its okay to care.”💕 If you want to be understood…Explain. Want to meet up? Invite. Missing someone? Call. Enjoying it? Say so. Not feeling it? Cut it off. Mostly if you love & appreciate someone then tell them. It doesn’t matter how long its been or how out of the blue it maybe. There are no rules to this life & action cures fear.  Social media & society will have you thinking otherwise but never overlook the opportunity to share w/someone that you’re truly invested in them. It’s better than asking “What if?” Life is much…

Thanksgiving- The Gift of Transplantation Medicine

Last week, I was invited to join “The Celebration of Thanksgiving- Gift of Transplantation Medicine.” The event was held to honor donor families & recipients at #UTSouthwesternmedicalcenter There were hundreds of donor families & just 36 of us (recipients) I swapped stories with a couple of them but I connected with a teacher who’s story really touched me. She came to honor a little boy that passed away from a car accident in June. The driver was distracted-texting. A lot of staff from his school showed up to remember him. They described him as respectful, passionate and thoughtful. He would ask his mom to send gifts to his teachers when they had a bad…

    What woman? 1/26/18

Most days, I come into work on a positive note, including this day. I rarely allow the environment in the work place take me to a negative place. It’s was the last day in the old building, we’ll be relocating a mile away from my home and I’m super excited. The past few months, after the announcement of the move, I held my excitement because most employees were taking it so hard and resisting change. Some of them were even in tears. I’d attempt to uplift and persuade them to make the move benefit them. I’d explain we will always have the power to change or turn our circumstances around whether we believe it or not. Even if…

“Yeah mommy they’re all my best friends!” 11/8/17

Every morning I spend at least 10 minutes convincing my 3 year old she has to go school and its going to be a great day. As long as she cries on the ride there, you would think they’re harming her throughout the day.\ “I don’t want to go that school anymore!” Walking into class today one child completely stops what’s she’s doing and says “Sayge is here!” Another little girl then says “Yay! Everybody Sayge is here!” Three more just crowd around her. It just warmed my heart. “Wow, for a little girl who doesn’t want to go to school everyday you sure are popular, Sayge.” “Yeah mommy they’re…

    Define Privilege (2015)

I think it’s relevant we all take some time to understand “privileged and prejudiced.” An experience I had at work should help a few people out that would rather assume these experiences do not exist or others who would rather call someone racist. There is a difference, it can be a real close call but I never rush to assume its racism first. For example, I am mind blown how customers, without any consequences, can casually walk into a place of business & say “I’m tired of dealing with a bunch of niggers” or “No, not you! I don’t want help from any niggers today!” Or look you dead in the…

     Sayge Noelle

11/7/17 7:30AM This kid. Driving to daycare like we do every day I pull up and Sayge goes insane “Noo, not this place!” I asked where she thought we were going? “GiGi’s house!” “It’s not Thanksgiving yet. Please be patient.” “I’m already all the days patient!” while she’s rolling her socks back down. “Why are you rolling your socks back down?” “You said I don’t have to go to school if I wear my socks up.” This took at least 5 minutes to comprehend and makes no sense at all. Months ago I told her “Roll your socks down; we’re not going to school dressed crazy today!” 3 year old logic:…
